Frequently Asked Questions
How do we start the process?
The first step is to book a consultation. The consultation is key because we have you complete a survey before hand that we go over before your consult and this leads the stylist to ask other questions and also helps the stylist get a better understanding of what type of styling you may need.
I booked a consultation appointment, how do i pay the fee?
A consultation fee is required to secure you’re consultation. The fee also goes toward any styling booked within a year of consult. You can secure your consultation by paying the fee here.
What types of services do you offer?
We offer a range of styling, personal shopping, and subscription styling services. You can find out more here.
What if i don’t live near you?
We offer virtual services. Through the consultation, mood boards, and a great visual platform you will have looks delivered to you virtually that are easily shoppable with just a few clicks! We also offer dates in the Northern, Virginia/ D.C area and will travel with the addition of a travel fee.
Do you work with men?
Yes! We absolutely work with men.
Do you work with plus size individuals?
Yes we do! We work with all body types as long as the individual has a healthy body image. In other words, you have to be able to see what we see when you have a great outfit on. If you do not believe you look good in anything, then it’s going to be hard for us to change your mind.
do you work with people on a budget?
Yes we do. Most people have some type of clothing budget and that’s ok. However, we do value quality and our stylists aim to teach their clients where to invest in quality items and where they can save. To be honest we are not big fans of fast fashion at J Zimmer Style, but there are times, like when trying new trends, that we may recommend certain fast fashion brands. However, there are some our values do not align with and we may need to pass on working with clients that only want to purchase from them because it just would not be a good fit.
Is there a minimum or maximum age you work with?
No there is not. We have styled kids for family photos, for weddings and other events. Certain ages just may require an adult present if working in person.
Do you do color analysis?
No, I do not. The reason being is while getting your color analyzed is fun, I do not believe in holding your wardrobe prisoner to a color season. If you love a color that may not look amazing on you, we incorporate it in your wardrobe in a way that is flattering and usually not right next to your face. If you try and make your wardrobe only apply to the “season” of colors that look best on you, you will find your wardrobe will lack verstility. Also, it can be incredibly hard to shop for certain color seasons, when stores dictate what color fabrics they use, and when its not that color season. I will happily recommend some great House of Color ladies for a fun experience, but come back to me for the styling!
