let’s throw it back to middle school. the delia*s catalog would arrive and immediately i’d go through it with my friends, giving them style advice on which pieces they should order while jamming out to spice girls and green day…

I was always the go-to friend for style advice since elementary. I’d even loan out my clothes on the reg to make sure my friends looked and felt fabulous. Fast forward to high school where one of my greatest achievements (I was sadly not that focused on learning) was being awarded the superlative of “Best Dressed”. I used to sketch outfits and dream of going to France and becoming a fashion designer, but as I got older realism came into play and I found myself trading those dreams for the 9 to 5 hustle. I graduated Dean’s List from Old Dominion University (all while being a member of the cheer squad) with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I quickly set out to help people working for non-profits making very little, but pouring my absolute heart and soul into my work. Eventually, I landed a job helping military families working for the federal government. I’d experience periods of burnout and always find myself going back to my previous dreams of working in fashion.

then one night in charlottesville, VA sipping champagne on a rooftop bar on the downtown mall, my husband asked me “what would you do if you could do anything or be anything?”

I quickly answered because I had thought of this only a million times before, “I’d start my own personal wardrobe styling company and be a personal stylist”. We sat there all evening mapping out plans to bring my dream to fruition and that’s when J Zimmer Style was born. On a rooftop bar in 2016.

Gemini. Traveler. A wife and mother of 4: One girl, one boy, a little Angel in Heaven, and a scruffy shaggy labradoodle named Jagger (after Mick of course). After experiencing the heavy loss of losing my son I realized life’s short and I didn’t want to spend a m i n u t e more doing things I didn’t love. If you're interested in working with me in person or virtually please don't hesitate to reach out. I love meeting new people, learning about them, and creating a style they are excited about and comfortable with. People often ask me, “ What does a degree in psychology have to do with personal styling?” Let me tell you that has come into play more times than I can count. It allows me to help my clients overcome hangups that might impede them from achieving their ideal style ultimately keeping them from thriving.

My blog is an assortment of thoughts that are randomly scattered throughout my mind. It is my journal there for the world to see…read…enjoy…comment…request other topics!
